Chaplain Hanaa Unus
ABOUT ME
My name is Hanaa Unus. It's nice to "meet" you!
Just a little bit about me: I hold an undergraduate degree in Social Work from George Mason University and am a graduate of the Hartford Seminary in Hartford, CT. Currently, I serve as full time chaplain at a university in Virginia. Chaplaincy isn't just a job though, it is a life calling. I am chaplain who has a tremendous passion for supporting our youth and young adults.
As a college chaplain, I know well the challenges that our university students are facing in having to be at the forefront of representing the Muslim community on campus, and participating in community engagement and interfaith conversations in their communities, amongst many other things. All this while trying to navigate their own emotional and spiritual well being. My goal is to support students through their college careers, help students tap into their own leadership skills to advocate for their needs on campus, and to make practical and sustainable change that serves the Muslim students for years to come.
